Stabilization and Development of Human Resources in Agricultural Information Systems in CEE Territory
Niauriene Renata, Director, Lithuanian Agricultural Library, Vilnius, LITHUANIA

Lithuania has increased its AGRIS input in the year 1998. It has also started to prepare CARIS input. The number of scientific publications has also greatly increased. However, the Lithuanian Agricultural Library (also the National AGRIS/CARIS center) has had problems with the lack of staff. More specialists trained in AGRIS/CARIS methodology are needed. In addition there is a need for two sub-centers to be established in agricultural institutes of Lithuania.

The use of electronic technologies has become quite common in Lithuania. However, more powerful servers are needed. New cataloguing system, created as a utility of the Union Catalogue of Lithuanian Libraries has been financed by the government. Lithuanian Agricultural Library has been using OPAC and has been regularly sending bibliographic records to the Union Catalogue (www.libis.lt). The library home page is under construction. At the moment short presentation of library is available via the Ministry's Web page.
