European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture

EFITA is a new European association for IT in agriculture founded in Wageningen on Monday 17 June 1996. The founding General Assembly was an open meeting and constituted the first Annual General Meeting. EFITA is founded by national associations from 7 European countries: Germany, Netherlands, France, Italy, Great Britain, Ireland and Denmark. EFITA is now seeking new national member organisation. Individual memberships are also available. The first major task for EFITA is to hold the European Conference for Information Technology in Agriculture, Copenhagen,15-18 June 1997. EFITA was founded within the framework of EUNITA: European Network for Information Technology in Agriculture. EUNITA (AIR3-CT94-1654) is a Concerted Action funded by the specific programme for Agriculture and Agro-Industry including Fisheries (AIR) adopted on 23 April 1990 as part of the European Community's Third Framework Programme.

Vision and Mission of EFITA:
EFITA is the co-ordinating body and catalyst of its National Member Organisations (NMO). EFITA in the coming years will seek to achieve a high reputation and visibility based on the strength of and the co-operation with its National Member Organisations. It shall be at the leading edge of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) developments and the application of ICT in agriculture.

EFITA's mission is to facilitate the exchange of information and experience, the development of knowledge in the area of ICT in agriculture in order to enhance the competitiveness of Europe and to promote the awareness of ICT in agriculture. To accomplish these missions EFITA will:
