aref2 The research purpose is the comparison of age-related concentration of lipid metabolism indices in blood serum of Altai breed sheep (AB) and of their crossbreeds with Texel rams (TAC). The following indices were investigated: total lipids, total cholesterol; cholesterol in high density (HDL), low density (LDL) and very low density lipoproteins. The maximum lipid metabolism indices of nutritional origin are observed in day old purebred and crossbred lambs. The cholesterol, being easily accessible substrate for hormones synthesis, is concentrated in LDL. The decrease of lipid metabolism indices is revealed in early postnatal period (to 2.5 months), and more intensive decrease is revealed in crossbred young animals, which is characterized by high growing power. During puberty period of ewe lamb (4 months) significant decrease of triglycerides concentration by 53.4 ( 0.01) and 31.0% was observed in AB and TAC, while their total lip-ids and total cholesterol indices remained stable. Cholesterol is concentrated in HDL in ewe lambs of both groups. The dynamics of lipid metabolism indices in the subsequent age periods (68 months) was characterized by their increase. There occurred cholesterol redistribution in LDL. The TAC lambs in that age revealed higher concentration of total lipids, triglycerides and cholesterol compared to the young animal of the AB. Thus, the lipid metabolism indices level in blood of lambs is associated with the complex morpho-funcional changes of their bodies during the growth and development, and is related to the breed they belong to.
