The Central Scientific Agricultural Library of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences is one of the largest agricultural libraries of the world and exercises the functions of the branch National food and agricultural library. The CSAL is a Depositary Library of publications of the FAO UN (Food and Agriculture Organization îf the United Nations). The CSAL collection is over 3 mln. stock units of information sources on agriculture, forestry, food industry and food resources, environment protection in agribusiness and related disciplines. The information is provided as domestic and foreign books, journals, newspapers, serials, CD-ROM, videomaterials etc., and also through access to a range of databases, both of foreign and own generation.

 | The seminar dedicated to FAO information resources has been held on January, 15, 2007, in the CSAL by Michal Demes, Information Systems Officer of FAO. He has demonstrated the possibilities of actual network systems in the search of information related with various agriculture and food issues. Among the participants of the seminar there were: Dukhanin Yu. A., the Head of Research Management Sector of the Department of Scientific and Technological Policy and Education of the Ministry of Agriculture of the RF, Scientific Secretaries of branch departments of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, scientists and leading specialists of the CSAL.

| Annual Meeting of Library Science Department of the UN International Informatization Academy (the headquarters - the CSAL of the RAAS)
was held on March, 2, 2006, in which participated over 30 leading scientists of the field. Library scientists discussed the results of work of the
Department in 2005 and the prospects for its future activity. New members elected within the Department quota have been granted Diploma.
The most active members of the Department have been awarded medals of the International Fund "Century patrons of the Arts". In connection with changes
in Secretariat personnel Elena Khizhnyak, the Head of Scientific Department of the CSAL of the RAAS has been approved a reference secretary of the
Department.
